Police K9 Unit:
The Canine Unit was e
stablished during the 1970’s. The unit consists
of teams of officers assigned a canine partner. The canine
teams are trained to detect the odor of controlled
dangerous substances, conduct tracks, evidence searches,
criminal apprehension and explosive detection. Currently
one team is cross-trained in patrol tactics and narcotics
while the other team is trained in explosive detections.
